Directions

Synapse Energy Economics is located at 485 Masschusetts Avenue in Central Square, Cambridge. (Click here for a map.) 485 Massachusetts Avenue is three blocks southeast of the Central Square subway stop. It is located three storefronts prior to the intersection of Massachusetts Ave. and Douglass St., between a Radioshack store and Floating Rocks restaurant, and across the street from the Middle East restaurant. Synapse is on the 2nd floor of the building. To enter the building, you will need to dial "2002" from the main breezeway and speak to someone from our staff.

From the Subway
Take the Red line to Central Square. After getting off the train, go to the front of the platform (if heading inbound) or the back of the platform (if heading outbound) and take the Pearl Street exit from the subway. Walk southeast along Massachusetts Ave., away from Central Square. 485 Massachusetts Avenue is approximately a 3-minute walk from the station and is located on your left.

From South of Boston
Take Route 128 northbound to the Mass Pike. Take the Mass Pike inbound to the Cambridge exit (exit is on the left of the Pike). After the tollbooth, take the Cambridge exit. Go straight through the busy intersection and drive across the Charles River Bridge. Continue straight on River Street for about one mile into Central Square. Take a right onto Massachusetts Ave. and travel two blocks. You will pass Pearl Street on your right and will want to stop when you meet cross streets Brookline Street and Douglas Street. 485 Mass Ave is located on the left-hand side of the street, across from the Middle East restaurant.

From North of Boston
Take I-93 South to Exit 30 toward Route 28/Somerville, and turn left onto Mystic Avenue/38 South. Proceed for .7 miles and then make a slight right onto McGrath Highway/Route 28 South. Follow Route 28 South for 2.1 miles, until you reach Route 3/Edwin H. Land Blvd. Turn right on Rte. 3, and this will become Memorial Drive after you pass the Cambridgeside Galleria Mall. Stay straight on Memorial Drive for approximately 1 mile, until you reach Route 2A/Massachusetts Avenue. Turn right on Massachusetts Avenue and proceed north for half a mile until you arrive at the intersection of Massachusetts Ave. and Douglass Street (on your right). 485 Massachusetts Ave. is located half a block past Douglass Street.

Parking
There are two parking garages nearby. One is approximately two blocks away toward Central Square. The entrance is on Green Street, the street that runs parallel to Massachusetts Ave. and perpendicular to Pearl Street. Drive down Pearl Street and take your first right onto Green Street. The parking lot entrance is on your left.

If the Green Street garage is full, there is one near the Star Market, in the section of town referred to as University Park. It is a newly renovated section of Central Square, toward MIT, across Massachusetts Ave. This garage is also on Green Street, between Sydney Street and Landsdown Street. (Green Street runs one way in the direction away from the Star Market parking lot, so if you miss the first parking lot, you need to continue down Green Street, take your first left, and then another left and go several blocks to get back towards the Star Market.) It is about a five block walk to our office from there.
