Synapse has a new (but not so new) leader!

After nearly three decades guiding Synapse through periods of significant growth and innovation, Bruce Biewald is handing off the position of CEO to Jeannie Ramey.

How It Began

Bruce and Jeannie co-founded Synapse Energy Economics in 1996 with the vision of providing rigorous, independent analysis of the electric power sector to public interest and governmental clients. Over the years, they have worked together to shape Synapse into a leader in strategic economic analysis, helping clients navigate the challenges of decarbonizing energy production and use in a fair and affordable way.

An Exciting Transition

In her new role, Jeannie will build on her extensive experience in Synapse management (she was previously Senior VP of Business Operations) and her deep commitment to equity in the clean energy transition. She will continue Synapse’s mission to help our public interest and governmental clients take on the challenges and opportunities of a rapidly evolving energy landscape. Her leadership will bring both continuity and fresh perspective to Synapse as we work toward a more equitable and sustainable clean energy future.

Bruce will stay on as Board Chair and Chief Scientist so he continues to provide strategic guidance to the organization and help foster new areas of innovation.

Bruce and Jeannie’s collaboration has been central to Synapse’s success over the years. The Synapse team is excited to enter this new chapter under Jeannie’s leadership as CEO. With her guidance, the company is poised to continue supporting clients in building more equitable, reliable, and affordable energy systems.
