Offshore Wind’s Role in Lowering Connecticut’s Electricity Bills
Sierra Club
Project completed.
Connecticut and several other New England states have been collectively targeting 9 GW of offshore wind by 2030 in order to reach their climate goals. Yet, high bills for electricity customers have some calling for a pause in the process. On behalf of Sierra Club, Synapse analyzed the impacts that offshore wind would have on electricity bills, the climate, and public health for Connecticut and other states. We found that offshore wind would help, rather than hinder, Connecticut's pursuit of clean, affordable energy for its residents. The factsheet below describes the impacts for Connecticut.
