Synapse completed an analysis of the replacement energy for the now-retired Indian Point Energy Center. Synapse found that energy efficiency and renewable energy sources have displaced (and will continue to) displace the output associated with Indian Point. Fossil fuel electricity production in New York will continue its steady decline over the next decade; the last new natural gas plants built in New York have displaced energy otherwise provided from older, more polluting natural gas plants.
