Review of Washington Gas Light Customer Bill Message

In November of 2021, the Maryland Office of People’s Counsel (OPC) filed a complaint regarding a message included in certain Washington Gas Light Company (WGL) bills regarding the cost, efficiency, reliability, and environmental attributes of fossil gas and gas-consuming equipment. Subsequently, WGL filed its Opposition and Request for Dismissal with Prejudice of the Complaint of the Maryland Office of People’s Counsel against Washington Gas Light Co. and WGL Energy Services Inc. (Opposition Statement). On behalf of the OPC, Synapse reviewed and assessed the environmental and efficiency claims made by WGL in the bill message and in the Opposition Statement.
