Thanh Nguyen provides research, analysis, and consulting on a variety of energy and utility regulatory issues, including transportation electrification, distributed energy resources, rate design and cost allocation, building electrification, and the future of gas.

Prior to joining Synapse, Mr. Nguyen was a Senior Analyst at Strategen Consulting, where he provided regulatory support for government and nonprofit clients in utility regulatory proceedings. He analyzed utility proposals, developed recommendations, and drafted comments and testimony to help align utility policies, programs, and practices with decarbonization and equity goals. At Strategen, he also spearheaded the Vehicle-Grid Integration Council’s regulatory engagement in New York, educating policymakers and industry stakeholders to advance the market for flexible electric vehicle charging and discharging solutions.

Previously, Mr. Nguyen worked as a Legislative Policy Intern at Environmental Advocates of New York. There, he participated in organizing and lobbying activities in support of climate and environmental justice legislation, including the landmark 2019 Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act.

Mr. Nguyen graduated summa cum laude from Franklin & Marshall College in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies and Economics.
