Value of Distributed Generation Programs in Maine

Synapse prepared a report on the costs and benefits of different types of programs to support distributed generation (DG) in Maine, on behalf of the Governor's Energy Office (GEO). The report was based on input from the Maine Distributed Generation Stakeholder Group, and was used to support GEO's report to the Maine Legislature on successor programs to the current DG programs. The analysis considered several program design options, accounted for a wide range of costs and benefits, accounted for rate and bill impacts of program options, and identified DG programs that lower utility costs, reduce electricity rates, and prevent cost-shifting. The report was co-authored by Sustainable Energy Advantage. Project completed March 2023.
